Dear Friends:

Look what you did in 2025!

Thank you Geneva! What an interesting and busy year it has been!

With your help, our pantry had 5,112 visits from local families in need of emergency food (totaling 12,841 individuals). With the government shutdown in November, the community stepped up its donations allowing us to help the overflow of people coming in for food assistance.  Coming at the same time as our holiday food preparations, it was truly an interesting time for The Center. At times our pantry was overflowing, which was a welcoming sight for people concerned about how they were going to pay for food. Full shelves in addition to a wonderful selection of fresh produce eased the minds of many people in the community.

Operation Merry Christmas helped 733 individuals with a full holiday meal, and parents selected new gifts for more than 400 children from birth to age 18.

We gave eight scholarships (totaling $10,500) to deserving students in the local community, some college-bound while others heading to nursing or trade school. These scholarships are funded through a local family’s generosity.

Our Back-To-School Scholarship Program was again gratefully received by local families. Working with recommendations from Geneva’s North Street School, 20 families were given $250 scholarships toward school supplies and clothing needs. With the generosity of a local family connection, the funding for this program has been promised for 10 years.

Our thrift store continues to thrive with new, gently-used donations every day; your store purchases help to fund our food pantry. We greatly appreciate your continued donations of clean clothing, bedding, furniture and household items.

While our thrift store prices remain very low, everything in the store is available to be given on free vouchers for those in need in our service area. Recommendations are received weekly from area agencies and churches for people in need of our help.

Every year, numerous individuals, businesses, schools, churches and organizations donate funds and food toward our efforts and we thank you all for your continued support of our mission “To provide services while promoting dignity, respect and self-empowerment.” Because of you, we’ve been able to keep our pantry very well stocked and our thrift store filled with quality treasures.  Because of you, we were able to expand our pantry space. Because of our dedicated volunteers, we’ve been able to keep The Center moving ever forward.  Now in our 54rd year of serving the Geneva community, we thank you for keeping us encouraged on a daily basis.

Neighbors helping neighbors… we thank you all. We are truly blessed!

Sincerely,

Cheryl H. Toor, Director
