The Geneva Center of Concern Thrift Store.
Our Thrift Store offers quality used clothing, furniture and other household items at very affordable prices. The Store was in full operation in 2021, serving an ever growing number of local customers. The Center also distributes clothing, bedding and housewares from the store at no cost to families in times of dire need. Emergency assistance may include vouchers to obtain merchandise in the store, help with baby needs such as formula and diapers and limited assistance in paying for medical prescriptions. The success of the Store is greatly impacted by the generous donations that are received from the local community.
A component of the Thrift Store is the Shirley Shop, named in memory of Shirley Thibault, an original founder of The Center and former president of the Board. The Shop offers a nice selection of new items, jewelry and collectibles.
Income generated from the Thrift Store is primarily used to support operation of the Food Pantry.
The Thrift Store was temporally closed during the Pandemic providing the opportunity to carry out significant structural reorganization. We are now pleased to be fully operational with renovated spaces that help provide a safe environment for our customers and volunteers. Please see the letter on this site’s “Current News” which lists updated safety procedures that are being implemented .
